FAQs

Everything You Need To Know About Central Chiropractic Centre

Q.Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?
No. There is no referral required to visit us and anyone can set up an appointment. We are located in downtown Winnipeg our phone number is (204) 943–7200.

Q. Are you accepting new patients?
Yes. Dr. Ashique is in high demand. While we are currently accepting new patients, we cannot guarantee that this will always be the case. We recommend that you call to see if we have appointments available.

Q. Is chiropractic care safe?
Yes. When compared to other primary healthcare professions such as medicine, chiropractic care is safer for the management of injury or physical pain, due to the adverse reactions that can happen from drugs. There have been many scientific studies confirming the safety of chiropractic care, and the evidence for this is growing every year.

Q. Does the treatment hurt?
The short answer is no. People come in to see us in various states of tenderness or pain so this pre-existing tenderness may be there during gentle manipulation of the muscles or joints. Chiropractic treatment in and of itself is gentle and not usually painful.

Q. What kind of treatment techniques are there?
There are many different kinds of chiropractic techniques. These range from very gentle ones, such that a very small baby could have an adjustment, to those that are little more forceful – such as what might be needed by a professional football player.

We will communicate well with you and decide upon the best and most comfortable treatment technique for you. In our office, the patient comes first and we will meet your preferences.

Q. I have seen a chiropractor before but did not achieve the results I want to. What should I do?
While we are unable to comment on these types of situations specifically, we have many patients in our office who come to us from other clinics. Dr. Ashique’s training as a specialist means that he might be able to address complex problems in a way that might be harder for a general doctor to tackle.

Q. Do you offer second opinions?
Yes. Many people seek out our office in order to get a second opinion.

Q. Does the healthcare system pay for chiropractic?
Yes. Manitoba health partly covers the first twelve visits per year. There is a copayment which the patient pays.

Our services are 100% covered by MPI and WCB. If you have had a work injury or a car accident call us. We manage many of these cases and are experienced in treating these types of problems so you can get better quickly.

Q. Will my group insurance plan cover chiropractic?
Yes. We cannot call on the specifics of any one individual’s group insurance plan, but our experience is that many or most group plans will provide for chiropractic care. You should check with your insurance policy.

Q. Do you offer others services and are they covered by my group plan?
We offer massage therapy and also provide custom made orthotics. Most group plans cover these costs but you should consult with your plan to confirm.

Q. What is orthopedics?
People sometimes confuse this word to mean feet. The word orthopedics actually refers to specialized training in bones, joints, nerves and muscles of the body. It is a specialized study involving physical injury and pain.

Q. What does it mean that Dr. Ashique is a specialist in orthopedics?
This means that Dr. Ashique extended his studies by an additional four years after completing chiropractic college. This provided advanced knowledge and training in physical pain, physical injury and the most advanced and up-to-date treatment methods for dealing with these problems. This training has allowed our office to provide care to some of the countries most elite athletes.

Q. I heard from someone that I shouldn’t see chiropractor because once I went I would have to keep going. Is this true?
Absolutely not. The amount of care that any individual needs is specific to them. Our experience is that some people require only a few visits while others might require more time. We have a very comfortable environment in our office and no one feels obligated to do any outcome. How long you choose to benefit from chiropractic care is up to you.

We have many patients who are educated about health and have recognized that it is better to see periodic “tune-ups” or preventative checkups order to maintain balance and good posture rather than leave things to accumulate the point where pain or an injury can occur.

Q. What is maintenance care?
There is a saying “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. This refers to the fact that it’s much easier to proactively take care of things rather than treat a problem after it has erupted. In other words it’s much better to change the oil on your car and do regular maintenance checks rather than neglect it until there is a full-blown problem with the car. Our bodies work the same way.

Q. Do you take x-rays?
Yes. About 4 years ago we upgraded our systems, making us the first chiropractic office in the city to offer digital x-rays. We find the x-rays provide a lot of detail, allows to be more specific in our treatment, giving faster results for our patients.

Q. Are x-rays necessary?
No. We use our thorough history and exam to guide our decisions on the need for x-rays. If you would like x-rays we can do that. If you prefer not to have them you won’t be obligated.
